The High Court has ruled that the UK government's decision to drop key recommendations from the Windrush review was unlawful. This decision came after a legal challenge by Windrush victim Trevor Donald, who was denied entry to the UK despite living there for 43 years. The court found that the action taken by then Home Secretary Suella Braverman, which involved scrapping three of the 30 recommendations initially accepted, had a disproportionately prejudicial effect on Windrush victims. The recommendations were part of the Williams Review, published in 2020, aimed at addressing the injustices faced by the Windrush generation. This ruling has been welcomed by advocates and the author of the report, who stressed the importance of implementing all recommendations to rectify the wrongs done to the Windrush victims.
